Nicholas II of Russia → Jude LawAlexandra Feodorovna Romanova → Kate Beckinsale

Nicholas and princess Alix first met as adolescents. From the beginning, both had a deep passion for the other. “It is my dream to one day marry Alix H. I have loved her for a long time” Nicholas wrote. The two were married in 1894. On the evening of their wedding, Alexandra wrote the following in Nicholas’ diary. “At last united, bound for life; and when this life is ended, we meet again in the other world and remain together for eternity.” Together, they would have four daughters and a son. Being parents was, their day to day obsession, particularly with the young boy diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. Nicholas and Alexandras marriage was happy, and they always remained true to one another, frequently exchanging love letters. When Russia was pulled into war in 1914, Nicholas travelled to the front. Alexandra wrote in 1915: “God bless and protect you I kiss every dear spot over and over again and hold you tight in my arms”, and Nicholas wrote back “Every time that I see the envelope with your firm writing, my heart leaps several times, and I shut myself up and read, or more correctly absorb the letter.” With World War I and the cost of defending the territory, the government collapsed, bringing Revolution. The royal family ended to a cellar in Ekaterinburg, where Nicholas and Alexandra died side by side along with their children in July 1918.
